Top 15 M&A deals of 2015 revealed

Thomson Reuters report shows US dominance and big deals in healthcare & food sectors.

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer’s 100% acquisition of Allergen PLC was the biggest M&A deal of 2015, according to a report by Thomson Reuters.

The deal between two US companies is worth $191.5bn and is one of 10 in the top 15 between two parties from the country. Others include Charter Communications’ acquisition of Time Warner Cable ($78.4bn) and The Dow Chemical Company’s agreement to buy DuPont ($68.4bn).

British companies are involved in both the second and third biggest deals of the year. Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch’s acquisition of SAB Miller ($120.8bn) was in second place while Royal Dutch Shell’s deal to buy BG Group ($81bn) was third.

Those deals were the only featured in the top 15 with any European parties. Apart from the UK, the only other countries featured are The UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Israel, Canada and Hong Kong.
