Design and prototyping platform Marvel raises £4m

Design and prototyping platform Marvel has raised a £4 million Series A funding round from BGF Ventures and other investors.

Marvel, the design and prototyping platform, has raised a £4 million Series A funding round from a group of leading European investors, led by BGF Ventures.

The service is an all-in-one design platform that aims to make design and prototyping simple for everyone.

Individuals and teams can use the service to scale creativity throughout their workflow and organisation, from wire framing to user testing.

The start-up’s platform now has over 1 million registered users, with around 35,000 new users signing up each month, the company claims.

Last month, Marvel acquired POP, a Taiwanese prototyping competitor, expanding the company’s international user base.

The Series A funding will be used to build sales and customer success teams within Marvel. The money will also allow the company to expand into new markets with the product and ramp up product development and marketing.

BGF Ventures is leading the latest funding round. Previous investors in Marvel will also participate including Index Ventures, Connect Ventures, Inreach Ventures, Andy McLoughlin and Richard Fearn.

Co-founder Murat Mutlu said: “Marvel is democratising design and empowering everyone to be involved in the process. We are lowering the barrier to getting started in design and making it much easier for people to work collaboratively.

“The recent acquisition of POP and our successful fund raising give us the opportunity to make huge strides in bringing Marvel to even more people and actually help make new designers, not just service existing ones.”

Rory Stirling, partner at BGF Ventures said: “We’ve watched Murat, Brendan and Jonathan build this business over the last few years and are extremely proud to be joining them on the Marvel journey.

“Amazing things happen when technology is used to simplify creative processes and we believe Marvel has the ability to transform the way individuals and teams create great products on a global basis.”
