Former CEO of Seatwave recognised for work on deal to acquire Timbre: 11 more awards also announced at ceremony in Park Plaza Victoria

BCG Digital Ventures managing director Ajay Chowdhury was named dealmaker of the year at the ninth Annual M&A Awards last night (Thursday 18 June).

Chowdhury was presented with the award for his work at Seatwave, where he secured a deal to acquire US-based ticketing company Timbre.

The deal was completed in June 2014 and saw Seatwave move into the live music scene on both sides of the Atlantic.

The acquisition of Hollywood Director Sam Mendes’ company Neal Street Productions was declared the UK deal of the year. In the cross-border category Leftfield Entertainment’s sale to ITV was chosen.

The fact that both deals come under the umbrella of media production highlight a year of lively activity in the sector.

Other big winners on the night included Kirstie Maydew, who was named M&A personality of the year, and Crowdcube – winners in the alternative finance category.

Now in its ninth year, the event was held at the Park Plaza Victoria with more than 300 of the best performing mid-market CEOs, FDs, private equity houses, corporate financiers and specialist advisers in the industry attending.

The night was hosted by Channel 4 business editor Siobhan Kennedy. Cavendish Corporate Finance founder Lord Leigh of Hurley delivered the keynote address on the evening.
