Vertu expands into Scotland

Car dealership company Vertu Motors has agreed to acquire Boydslaw, the owner of Dunfermline Autocentre, for up to £2.7 million.

Car dealership company Vertu Motors has agreed to acquire Boydslaw, the owner of Dunfermline Autocentre, for up to £2.7 million.

Dunfermline Autocentre operates a Ford dealership in Scotland. The company generated turnover of £32.5 million in 2009, and EBITDA (earnings before interest, depreciation and amortisation) of £686,000.

Paul Williams, chairman of Vertu Motors, said that the deal strengthens the group’s Ford offering and enables the company to establish a presence in Scotland.

In the six months to August 2009, Newcastle-based Vertu reported a five per cent decrease in revenue to £401.3 million, while pre-tax profits were up by 47.4 per cent to £2.8 million.
