Ticketbis targets further global expansion after latest angel round

Ticket reselling platform Ticketbis has collected itself $4.5 million of new funding to help with its continuing internationalisation.

Ticketbis has now received $7.2 million (£4.7 million) from private investors during the last three years, following its latest round.

Company employees, and two ‘renowned’ Spanish business angels, are partaking in the $4.5 million round.

Based in Spain, and with presence globally, Ticketbis is an online platform which allows users to buy and sell tickets for any type of event. It is now operating in 15 countries and, in the first six months of 2013, had a turnover of $18 million.

Jon Urigrte, CEO and co-founder of Ticketbis, comments, ‘We have been approached by significant venture capital organisations, in both Europe and America, however, we preferred to preserve our independence and management agility and decided on private investor input only.

‘We are changing the way people purchase tickets worldwide, as demonstrated by the excellent results in the five markets that have just opened in Latin America.’

More on angel investments:

Ander Michelena, CEO and co-founder of Ticketbis admits that the company has much to do outside of our borders and will continue to support expansion.

Ticketbis has now closed four investment rounds involving private investors. Prior to its latest capital injection, its last commitment came back in November 2011 when it secured €900,000 (£785,000). Previous transactions involved a commitment of €400,000 in 2009 and €1 million in 2011.

The platform now has six million users and has sold 150,000 tickets (with its main areas being sports) concerts and theatre, worldwide since its foundation in 2010.
