French electronics specialist Orolia has acquired McMurdo, a manufacturer of marine safety equipment, for $10 million (£5.9 million).
French electronics specialist Orolia has acquired McMurdo, a manufacturer of marine safety equipment, for $10 million (£5.9 million).
McMurdo is a subsidiary of technology company Digital Angel and makes search and rescue transponders and other safety devices for the commercial and leisure marine markets. The Portsmouth-based company generated revenue of £9.7 million in 2008.
Jean-Yves Courtois, chairman and CEO of Orolia, said: ‘The addition of McMurdo to our portfolio of industry leading brands complements our recent acquisition of Kannad, a leader in positioning systems for extreme environments.’
In the third quarter of the year, Orolia reported revenue of €6.6 million (£5.9 million).
