IBIS invested £850,000 in the buy-out from parent company Xtreme Information in a deal which allows the VCT to satisfy its obligation to have 70 per cent of its funds in qualifying investments.
Contagious, which has 20 staff, publishes a quarterly magazine, DVDs and a website. Its clients include brands such as Toyota and Microsoft as well as advertising agencies.
IBIS Media VCT, which has net assets of £7.2 million, is mulling a ‘top-up offer’ to provide funds to develop its existing portfolio and seek new opportunities.
