DisplayLink closes $15 million Series D round

Technology company DisplayLink is set to expand after the close of a $15 million (£9.6 million) Series D funding round led by incoming investor Cipio Partners and existing investor DJF Esprit.

Technology company DisplayLink is set to expand after the close of a $15 million (£9.6 million) Series D funding round led by incoming investor Cipio Partners and existing investor DJF Esprit.

DisplayLink, who are headquartered in California and have a base in Cambridge, develop integrate circuits and software that connect monitors to computers, such as USB devices and WiFi. Other investors Atlas Venture, Balderton Capital and DAG Ventures also contributed to the round.

DisplayLink chairman Graham O’Keefe remarks, ‘This new financing will allow us to continue the roll out of innovative new products in conjunction with our long-term partners.’

New investor Cipio, founded in 2003, is an investment management and advisory firm in the secondary directs market that manages their international investment portfolio from offices in Luxembourg, Munich and San Jose.

Cipio managing partner Dr Maximilian Schroeck, comments, ‘We were attracted to the clear technology lead that DisplayLink has created.’

Deloitte ranks DisplayLink the fourth fastest-growing EMEA company and this year they were awarded the Best Innovation Award Honoree in the enabling technologies category at the CES consumer technology tradeshow.

Schroeck mentions that ‘the market traction already demonstrated with multiple manufacturers’ and the ‘end-user enthusiasm’ for DisplayLink products appealed to Cipio.

He adds, ‘We expect the recent move to support SuperSpeed USB and multiple HD monitors will further grow the addressable market for its technology, and as such we welcomed the opportunity to invest in the company’s next stage of growth.’
